In early 2023, Cambodia started construction of a 108m high Buddha statue on the Bokor Plateau, Kampot Province. The main contractor is Green Environment Sculpture and Landscape Joint Stock Company, which is designing the landscape of the Bokor eco-tourism area. This is considered a major turning point in changing the face of this misty plateau in Cambodia.

The landscape was once called a “ghost town”

Bokor Plateau, once known as the “ghost town” in Cambodia, carries within it the desolate beauty of old, dilapidated French structures that are always hidden in the misty fog. However, after many years of development, this place has revived and become an extremely attractive tourist destination for many visitors to explore this mysterious beauty.

Bokor Eco-tourism Area is located right on the Bokor Plateau. Green Environment becomes the construction unit of Bokor eco-tourism area

Receiving the trust of the investor, Green Environment Company embarked on the task of turning the project in this place into the most attractive tourist destination in Kampot in particular and throughout Cambodia in general.

We have conducted a series of assessments and analyses of the current status of terrain, soil as well as culture and architectural features in the locality to be able to apply and convey meaningful messages to each design area.

The project is part of the investor’s spiritual tourism development strategy, so in addition to the landscape factor, it also requires Green Environment Company to create meaningful areas such as: “Naga Dragon” bridge, Heaven’s Gate area, stone hill area, etc.

The pedestrian bridge is named “Naga Dragon” bridge, inspired by the Naga snake god in the spiritual culture of the Khmer people – the image that the people worship and respect. The Naga snake in Khmer is called Niek, this image is closely associated with the spiritual life of each person. The bridge is more than 200m long above ground and nearly 100m in contact with the ground.

The bridge is nearly 3m high and wide, has a large capacity, can move directly in the “dragon’s belly”, in addition, there is an open area for visitors to admire the view of the entire project, as well as a place to take photos, check-in with the characteristics of the tourist area.

The terrain is mainly rocky, the landscape is still wild, we limit the creation of cross-cutting roads to access the areas so that it is more convenient for visitors, especially children and the elderly. Green Environment arranges many high-altitude routes to meet the enjoyment needs of almost all ages.

The elevated railway line is over 1000m long, running through the main functional areas, where people can get an overview of the tourist area.

In addition, there are two cable car lines, the chair lift cable car line and the flying bicycle cable car line, to serve the need for sightseeing from above.

In addition to the amenities for traveling and sightseeing, the tourist area has fully arranged areas to serve dining needs such as: a restaurant with a capacity of 2000 guests, drink stalls, fast food located in different functional areas, very diverse.

Sports games are indispensable in this project. Here, we have folk games, indoor and outdoor sports areas for children, climbing and archery areas for adults, … and the most attractive is the outdoor and indoor golf practice area.

“Heaven’s Gate” – a functional area with many meanings for the project, here exists a natural image of the gate to heaven along with countless rock sediments that are hundreds of years old, millions of years old. We hope that visitors will have a unique experience when coming here, that is, before you reach the gate to heaven, you have to go through images from hell. There is an artificial cave with countless sculptures of gloomy, dark hell.
